We wrote about the Hudson Valley Seed Library, an organization dedicated to preserving seed varieties that thrive in this particular microclimate, back in 2012. They sell their seeds in beautiful art packs featuring local artists using techniques including watercolor, oil painting and paper sculpture.
Next week they’re hosting a gallery opening for the artwork featured on this year’s sixteen art packs at the New York Botanical Gardens. This year’s selections include moss curled parsley, purple tomatillo and Blue Jade sweet corn and the artwork is as stunning as the plants will be. Stop by their opening reception on Saturday, November 8 between 6-8:00 p.m. for a chance to see the artwork up close and patronize their seed bank pop-up shop. If you mention which Edible magazine you read (you only have a few choices, it’s not rocket science) they’ll gift you with a free pack of seeds, a free bookmark and a code for free online shipping. You can RSVP to the Art of the Heirloom reception here.
