Brian Halweil, editor of Edible East End and co-publisher of Edible Brooklyn, Edible Manhattan and Edible Long Island, believes that fixing our food system is “the only solution to so many of our most intractable problems.” From reducing carbon emissions on farms to providing nutritious food in hospitals, he advocates for an increasingly integrated food system that connects the dots between farmers, healthcare professionals and eaters.

On November 19, he will be giving a talk entitled “Mindful Eating: What Does it Mean for You and the Planet?” The lecture will examine the role of the eater in a framework that views food as a holistic solution rather than a problem. Learn how and why your patterns of consumption matter in terms of the environment and the people around you.
