Here are a few events coming up that will help you get in the turkey and pumpkin pie spirit, not that you needed any help. Be sure to check out our events calendar for more things to do. (And note the date, February 28th, for our first event of 2012, Good Spirits, which, as the name implies, involves lots of good spirits and of course, good food.)
PIES GALORE IN THE BOWERY: On Sunday, November 20th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., check out Coffee and Pie with Billy’s Bakery at the Whole Foods Bowery Culinary Center. Baker Quinn Ventura will teach the basics of pie dough as she demonstrates how to make Billy’s signature crust along with delicious fillings. Pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato pies are on the menu, along with Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee. The class costs $20 and you can reserve your spot here.
Q & A ON ALL THINGS THANKSGIVING: Don’t let the recent mild weather fool you. Thanksgiving is indeed next week. With a reputation of being the most epic meal of the year, perhaps a tiny bit of planning is necessary. If you’re scrambling to order a turkey and prepare your pie dough, Chef Alfred Portale of Gotham Bar and Grill has a few tips to help steer you in the right direction and help provide some professional Thanksgiving troubleshooting. Join us on our Facebook page next Tuesday, the 22nd, from 2 to 4 p.m. for a live Q & A with the Chef himself.
