We’ve got travel both on the brain and on the calendar as of late. Not only did we just release our annual travel issue, but we’ve got a couple of events lined up that bring the best of what’s abroad to a doorstep near you.
This Friday, September 27, some of our favorite shops in both Brooklyn and Manhattan will offer tastings of some of Spain’s finest olive oils as part of a citywide tasting.
Like wine, olive oil’s characteristics are influenced by terroir, or the inherent qualities of the regions where it’s produced. Environmental conditions, like soil and climate, also influence the quality of the product, while certain production traditions can enhance its individual essence for our tasting pleasure. Basically, no two olive oils are the same. Here’s where you can taste the difference:
Caputo’s Fine Foods, 1-4 p.m.
Acorsa Selección (D.O. Montoro Adamuz Varietals), Valderrama
Stinky Bklyn, 5-8 p.m.
Hacienda Guzmán, Marqués de Valdueza, Dauro
Bedford Cheese Shop (Manhattan location), 6-9 p.m.
Marqués de Valdueza, Acorsa Selección (D.O. Montoro Adamuz Varietals)
Stay tuned to the event page on our website, as well as our Facebook and Twitter, for updates.
Speaking of elsewhere, don’t forget that we still have early bird tickets ($10 off the full price) available for our 3rd Annual Edible Escape! In addition to tastes of Spain, come join us for bites and beverages from around the globe. Check out the event page for more details and to purchase tickets.
