Like this little fellow, you can easily visit Katchkie Farm upstate. Photo by Jay Blotcher.
We know it’ll be tough to go indoors tomorrow if Saturday’s weather is anything like today’s. But think of the Escapemaker.com’s Green Getaways Local Food and Travel Expo–it’s tomorrow at the Skylight One Hanson Building in downtown Brooklyn–as $12 way to find out how to get even more outside in the future. The all-day event hosts dozens of cheesemakers, farms, wineries and other food artisans that open their doors to the public from around the state, as well as other green businesses like the city’s GrowNYC Greenmarket, gardening and composting programs. You can get the whole list of vendors at EscapeMaker.com. One of those will be Katchkie Farm, the 60-acre organic operation in Columbia County that is run by Great Performances catering co mpany, whose efforts to teach city kids about fresh food we covered last year in Edible Manhattan. They were also the subject of today’s Edible segment on NY1. Watch it here, or catch it again on Sunday morning.
