If you’re reading this blog, on a Friday night, we’re hoping you’re riding the post-work elevator to street level, or chillin’ at your nearby good beer bar. Better yet, maybe you’re standing on the LIRR platform waiting for the Montauk line, or sitting in traffic on the LIE. Because what they say is true. The East End, with pendulous pumpkins and grapes growing to be crushed, is smack dab in the middle of an insane harvest season, and not just because Eat Drink Local kicks off this Sunday.
Our Saturday kicks off with the Locavore Pour wine salon at Channing Daughters, and will end at the Festival Tasting at Wolffer Estate Vineyards. Following the Tasting, Long Island wine will be auctioned to the highest bidder as part of this 2-festival fundraiser for Peconic Land Trust and East End Hospice.
Sunday night, visit your nearby EDL restaurant (or drive around Riverhead and try a new place). The North Fork Table and Inn kicks off the week with a 3-course dinner, along with New York wine pairing, that features many of our scrumptious ingredients of the day, which we think everyone should be eating (or drinking) more of–pan-roasted duck, squash soup, and riesling–and which are being celebrated at all our partner restaurants. To find a place in your town, see the list below or visit our guide and choose the town you want to visit. And you can also check out our cheat sheets for Brooklyn and Manhattan, too.
From Sept. 26-Oct. 6, please visit these Eat Drink Local restaurant partners in Manhattan, who are dishing up locavore price-fixed menus, ingredients of the day and New York beer, wine and spirits. with locavore price-fixed meals
