The winter issue of Edible Brooklyn has just hit streets and is now out online, and you can consider it a where-to-eat this weekend guide, if you will. There’s a tour of Sunset Park’s Chinatown by Buddakan chef and Sheepshead Bay boy Yang Huang, complete with his Chinese New Year’s grocery guide. A profile of Ebinger bakery’s world-famous, pudding slathered blackout cake, as shown on our cover, which includes a round-up of where to eat it now. And the story of Don Paco Lopez bakery, which turns out the best King cake we’ve ever tasted — not to mention the overstuffed Mexican sandwiches called tortas — complete with several plastic baby Jesuses secreted inside. (Want to know why? You’ll have to read the piece.) And don’t forget the last of the borough’s reindeer meatballs (joika) at Nordic deli in Bay Ridge, one of the few Scandinavian spots left in what was once, long ago, a booming community.
