If you find yourself with a free evening tonight, a few of our favorite Brooklyn food experts will be explicating three of our favorite edibles — beer, wine and cheese — to benefit Brooklyn’s Brown Memorial Baptist Church food pantry. That’s just around the corner from Kelso, the Clinton Hill Brewery (529 Waverly Avenue at Atlantic Avenue) that’s hosting the event, the third annual “Spread the Cheer with Beer.” The gist is this: Five different cheeses, each paired with a wine and a beer. Ben Granger from Bierkraft — the beer-seller, cheesemonger, homebrewer and hop grower shown above on the summer cover of Edible Brooklyn — will talk about the cheese itself, while Alie Shaper, the owner of Brooklyn Oenology, will talk about the wine, and Kelly Taylor, the Kelso brewmaster, will talk about the beer. All proceeds go to the food pantry; the event starts at 7 pm and is $40, tickets are available via PayPal, just send your fee to kelly@kelsoofbrooklyn.com. Plus if you can’t make it tonight, remember the brewery is open for visits and growler fills on Fridays only! Feel free to BYOG.
