Save Saint Jimmy!

If you don’t know Jimmy Carbone, you should. Not only does his charming, other-worldly, subterranean spot on east 7th Street, Jimmy’s No. 43, have one of the best local and international craft beer selections in the whole darned city (not to mention the pubby, disarmingly delicious snacks and bigger-bites menu), but Carbone has become a bit of a saint on the slow-food scene, promoting local food and drink, home-grown businesses, and epicurean creativity and sincerity through everything from food-centric fundraisers to his show on American Heritage Radio, “Beer Sessions Radio.” But today, big giver Saint Jimmy needs a little help coming his way for a change.

Hurricane Sandy knocked out power at Jimmy’s No. 43, and Carbone has lost days and days of business, and up to this moment has no idea when he’ll be back up and running. He’s hoping to have a generator going to get the bar back up by Friday, but in the meantime to keep his lights on (once ConEd actually restores power, that is), how about doing a little early holiday shopping that helps out this New Yorker who always seems to be helping others? You can purchase gift certificates in $25, $50, or $100 increments to his fine establishment for your favorite brew-happy besties– or, even more fun, get a few friends together to get tix to one of his sure-to-be-outstanding upcoming fall-foodie events (click here for listings).

At the moment, snail mail is the way to go to purchase gift certificates. Checks should be made out to JPG Style Corp and mailed to:

And when the power goes back on and the taps are once again flowing, head on down for a pint or three and raise a glass to our friend and irreplaceable member of New York’s food community, Jimmy C.
