This Week on the Edible Calendar–Cocktail Party Tickets, Killer Cookies and Slow Wine

As February approaches, we’re getting more and more excited about this year’s first edition of Good Spirits, our seasonal cocktail event held at 82 Mercer on February 28. (Which just happens to be the birthday of our events director Sam Seier, so when she runs past you to make sure there are napkins at The Beagle table and ice for the guys making drinks with El Buho Mezcal, please wish her a good one.) We can’t wait to see what places like The Beagle or Monument Lane and Fort Reno will feed us, or what “good spirits” we’re going to drink made from El Buho, Privateer Rum or Bache Gabrielsen. It’ll all be great, for sure, so headed over here to purchase your $45 ticket to join us (and wish Sam a happy birthday).

What’s Ahead on the Edible Calendar: Local Fisheries, Slow Wine and Good Spirits

A few more sunsets until the first Hanukah candle; a few more bedtimes till Santa comes down the chimney…it’s an exciting time of the year, that’s for sure. To keep those excitement levels at a peak, here are a few shindigs both before and after the holidays, including a celebration for the publication of the first-ever English Slow Wine Guide at the Metropolitan Pavilion on Monday, January 30th from 6:30 to 9 pm. This walk-around wine tasting will feature 140 wines from over 60 Slow Wine producers. For more edible-minded events, be sure to check out our Events calendar right here.

Two Can’t Miss Events: Baja Tacos and Butter Churning

Not many folks get to watch a butter churning demonstration blocks from the Bedford Avenue L train, but you can when you come to How to Milk It, the latest installment in our How-To series at Williamsburg’s Brooklyn Brewery. Anne Saxelby of Saxelby Cheese and Chef Fromager Tia Keenan will also be on hand for cheesy discussions. It’s How to Milk It on Wednesday, October 26th at the Brooklyn Brewery.

Two-For-One: Buy Tickets to Edible Escape on October 19, Score Free Swag from Bodum

Edible Escape, our travel-themed tasting event in celebration of our inaugural travel issue, is fast approaching like a high speed Euro-train. It takes place October 19th at the stunning Angel Orensanz Center, which itself is like an escape to another time and place. At $40, tickets are a lot cheaper than a flight around the world, and we can guarantee the food will be better, plus we’re giving away Bodum coffee presses and Bodum ceramic knives.
