Although it feels like spring is beginning, it is indeed still technically February, that means Valentine’s Day. Below are a few Edible-approved ways to woo this year. If you’re looking to plan your social calendar beyond the 14th, be sure to stay tuned to our Events Calendar to fill your dates. And if you got an event to add–from CSA meet-ups to farm schools to secret suppers–let us know.
This Saturday, January 21st, from 10:30 am to 5:45 pm, make yourself a some lunch and get comfortable in front of your computer for TEDxManhattan’s “Changing the Way We Eat,” a live simulcast from the TimesCenter in Times Square. Twenty speakers who know more than a thing or two about the subject of sustainable eating and farming (including Mitchell Davis, the Executive Vice President of the James Beard Foundation, Michelle Hughes, the Director of GrowNYC’s New Farmer Development Project, and Wayne Pacelle, President and CEO of The Humane Society of the United States) will explore a variety of issues, and talk about our choices and their consequences.
It’s beginning to feel a lot like winter, right? Mittens, scarves and puffy parkas are all well and good, but when it comes to warming seriously chilled bones, they can’t quite compete with stiff drink. It’s safe to say that February will be frigid, so prepare early and get your tickets (available here) to Good Spirits, our seasonally inspired cocktail event on February 28th from 6 to 9 pm at 82 Mercer in Soho. Until then, below is the roster of this year’s participants to get you excited. Be sure to check out our Events Calendar for other great happenings going on around town.
With the hoopla of the holidays out of the way, we wanted to remind you to prod your favorite bartender to enter our Great King Street Cocktail Competition, a collaboration by Compass Box and Edible Manhattan and Edible Brooklyn to crown the very best cocktail made with Great King Street: Artist’s Blend and at least one seasonal ingredient. And to say we’ve extended the submission deadline to this Friday, January 6th.
Believe it or not, February is just around the corner and that means Groundhog’s Day,…
Nothing beats a homemade gift during the holidays. It saves the giver the stress associated with holiday shopping–but more importantly it endears givers to receivers with the thought of the time and effort that went into that one-of-a-kind gift. So get crafty! Start by hitting the 7th Annual BUST Magazine Craftacular and Food Fair this weekend.
