It’s pretty much impossible to figure out the best thing we ate and drank at Wednesday night’s jam-packed Good Beer 2013 event (our fifth!) at 82 Mercer — was it a perennial, addictive favorite, like Fort Defiance‘s “you will be our downfall” deviled eggs? New friends like First and South‘s brioche-like pretzels smeared with kicked up sweet-tangy mustard? Was it the gently spicy yet totally refreshing Greenmarket Wheat (made specially for GrowNYC‘s greenmarkets in a collaboration between them and Brooklyn Brewery)? The wine-lover’s Noble Rot from Dogfish Head? Monuments Lane’s juicy, fresh, local peaches with fresh ricotta, candied walnuts, and drizzled in Allagash beer honey? Or the actual Allagash we sipped with it? There was so much sensory overload going on in the happy, sudsy frenzy, that in the end, we just kind of gave ourselves over.
And, truth be told, I had one last beignet from Upright Brew House, because beer and beignets? Yeah, new favorite pairing. If you joined us, hope you enjoyed the evening as much as we did (you looked like you did! Who doesn’t love Good Beer?!). And if you didn’t, check out the slideshow above for a peek at what went down… cheers!
