Slow Wine, an Italian offshoot of Slow Food has been publishing an English-language guide since 2011. Unlike other guides, they visit every winery they review, and their ratings take environmental responsibility and the Slow Food philosophy into account. Producers can receive the Slow Food snail of approval for a strong interpretation of “sensorial, territorial, environmental and personal values” as well as a bottle symbol indicating high quality and a coin symbol signifying value. Next week, Slow Wine will be joining forces with VINO Italian Wine Week to preview their 2015 guide at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
The consumer portion of the event will take place on February 2 at 6:00 p.m. and will include a walk-around tasting with more than 70 of the 300+ producers included in the guide. Join them for a unique chance to meet the producers behind these distinguished Italian wines and learn more about Slow Wine’s thorough evaluation process. Get your tickets here.
