Airplane food is one of the most universally hated forms of nourishment on the planet, with a few weird notable exceptions. Studies show that our taste buds are actually dulled at high altitudes, and I can say truthfully that the only time in my life I’ve ever refused pizza was on an airplane.

JetBlue has been working to change that, first with its commitment to source blackberry yogurt drinks from New York’s own Ronnybrook dairy, and now with its new partnership with food startup accelerator AccelFoods. JetBlue will eventually provide innovative packaged foods on its flights and in its renowned Terminal 5. The partnership provides valuable exposure for small-scale startups that range from cricket flour protein bars  from Exo to a canned milk and coffee beverage originally conceptualized as a mixer… because Whynatte?

Starting in 2015, some flights will include sample boxes from the AccelFoods brand lineup which rotates twice yearly. Perhaps some of their offerings will triumph over jet lag and turbulence to create a memorable (dare I say enjoyable?) plane food experience.
