Way back in 1998 New York restaurateur Danny Meyer — whose famed Gramercy Tavern we covered last year — let filmmaker Roger Sherman watch as he attempted to open two restaurants at once (“I was pretty convinced I had made the worst mistake of my professional life,” he tells the cameras). The process, as well as 1990s business fashion, is captured in a film called The Restaurateur the 92nd Street Y will be screening next Tuesday, and both men will be on hand to discuss the work and what happened after. Tabla, of course, closed just last week after 12 years.
