At this point, more than half of my Instagram feed consists of pictures of food (the rest is Ai Weiwei, he’s #prolific). It can be frustrating to look at pictures of other people’s creations or restaurant meals, especially when my own pictures have a tendency to make really good food look like cat vomit. But feedfeed, a social network that categorizes food pictures and recipes by ingredient meal and creator (and which has grown to a network of over 80,000 contributors since we last wrote about them), organizes crowd-sourced recipes into a photo and inspiration-sharing community.

They also have a partner feed with GrowNYC, and this Saturday they’ll be coming to the Union Square Greenmarket. The GrowNYC feed sources photos and recipes using Greenmarket ingredients, and it’s a compelling resource for those of us who are already getting tired of acorn squash and need a little help finding new ways to use it. They’ll be handing out free seasonally appropriate recipe cards and displaying photographs of 600 of their most recently shared meals.

You can join the fun by visiting Saturday’s market and tagging your creations with #GrowNYC #feedfeed. In GrowNYC’s own words, “feedfeed has allowed Greenmarket’s staff, farmers and community to see the magic that happens in home kitchens after a trip to the farmers market, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the results.” If you can’t make it this Saturday, check out their cookbook inspired by Greenmarket.
