Vermont in summers is like what the season is meant to be: Breezy and warm, all dappled sun from those green, green trees. So if you don’t yet have plans this weekend, we’d like to encourage you to check out the bus trip Murray’s is planning to the Vermont Cheese Fest on Sunday, an all-day fromage binge at lovely Shelburne Farms (hay rides! dairy cows and chickens!) profiled in the current issue. Edible Manhattan was lucky enough to score a seat on last year’s dairy-fueled two-day ride and we’ve been talking up the trip ever since.
The stops at this year’s will be slightly different — read about the weekend’s road trip to meet the makers of Tarentaise, a farm-to-table dinner at Bluebird Tavern right here — but is just as focused on give riders a taste of the best of Vermont. You meet at Murray’s bright and early on Saturday morning for breakfast, snuggle up on the bus with a Murray’s snack bag, then head on to the green hills of Vermont for two days spent eating some of the country’s most amazing dairy, but also exploring the region with folks who care about food and its makings as much as you do.
Friends are made, cheese is eaten, and if you’re really bold you might even dip your toes into the pristine waters of Lake Champlain. Then you get to nap all the way back home to Manhattan while someone else does the driving.
