A few weeks ago, we told you about the contest for a small community-minded business to win funds, support and six months in a pimped out metal shipping container at the new Dekalb Market headed for downtown Brooklyn. Now we’ve helped the group narrow down the entries to five top ideas, and they’re open for voting. Each plan is profiled on Dekalb Market’s Facebook page: The options include a sustainably minded radio station, a bike shop and fix-it stop, a produce stand, a store and kitchen for misplaced vendors from the Greenpoint Community Market that got shuttered last year, and a supper club. You can check out the submissions in detail, including artists’ renderings of how cool their containers will look. Check it out and be sure to vote this week!
