One of the key events of NYC Craft Beer Week — a citywide fest featuring tastings, dinners, crawls and other craft beer celebrations–is Thursday night’s Brewer’s Choice at City Winery. The four-hour event is special not because 20 harder to find beers from our foodshed will be paired with fantastic food and poured all in one place, but because of who will be doing the pouring. The brewers themselves (including Robb Todd from Allagash in Maine; brothers David and Daniel Kleban from The Maine Brewery; Ken Landin and Janine Bennett of Crossroads in Athens, N.Y.; and Luc Lafontaine and Stephane Ostiguy of Dieu de Ciel! in Montreal) will be on hand to fill up your glass. The shindig is curated by Dave Brodrick of the Blind Tiger and features a kick-off speech by none other than brewmaster Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery, who’ll be toting along a secret stash of large format bottles including some aged in wine barrels. On top of that, Bierkraft’s Ben Granger is bringing a housemade porchetta from his Park Slope shop, New Jersey’s Bobolink Dairy and Bakeshop will be baking cheese biscuits and there’ll be at least 1,000 oysters on hand. Tickets are $75, and are all you can drink and all you can eat. But first you’ll have to beat us to those biscuits.
