Earlier this month our wine correspondent Amy Zavatto wrote about the beauty of Finger Lakes wines and their role in last week’s NY Drinks NY, which culminated with a grand tasting at Astor Center on the 12th. (Read Edible East End‘s report on that right here.) As the weekend officially begins with a bout of chilly grey weather, we thought we’d pass on an icewine and cider cocktail recipe Zavatto sent us from Nick Venditti at Frankly Wines on West Broadway, which he created using Finger Lakes spirits for NY Drinks NY week. Says Zavatto: “I’d never in a million years have thought that icewine and gin would be so, so pretty together, but holy cow–DELICIOUS! And very dangerous.”
From Nick Venditti at Frankly Wines
1 oz Leonard Oakes Icewine
1.5 oz Finger Lakes Distilling Seneca Drums Gin
1/2 tsp. Red Jacket Orchards Apple Cider Molasses
1 oz Leonard Oakes Steampunk Cider
Shake gin and cider molasses together over ice. Layer in martini glass over icewine. Float Steampunk cider on top.
