We’ve been excited about NY Drinks NY, the yearly wine tasting that draws the state’s most accomplished vineyards into the city, for awhile now. But this week we caught wind of the food pairings and now we really can’t wait for the March 10 tasting. The New York Wine and Culinary Center will be in charge of the local food spread for the event and they’re planning to ensure that grape growers don’t hog all the spotlight: This year’s menu includes smoked trout over multi-grained salad, pork belly glazed with peach riesling preserves and braised red cabbage, and plenty of artisanal cheeses and charcuterie.
“The mission of the Center is to educate, engage and excite anyone who comes into contact with the Center and our staff as well as to promote agriculture in New York State… I feel we are directly lined up with what the NY Drinks NY event is all about,” general manager Peter Rogers told us.
They’ll be sourcing their ingredients almost exclusively from New York State while supporting several different farms. This year’s major producers include Big Mamu Farm, DiPaolo Bakery, Pittsford Dairy and Lakeview Grain. An informal crash course in local wine and snacks from up-and-coming specialty producers? Not a bad way to spend a Tuesday night. Learn more and buy your tickets here.
