Just as it looked like our focus switched from underground speakeasies to intimate and engaging cocktail bars, renowned cocktail enthusiasts and bartenders came together to give us Wine & Whiskey. Instead of frequenting the same bars with the same drink menu, Wine & Whiskey gives us a new bartender, new location and new menu at each of their members to create a more engaged and excited cocktail community. Much like their speakeasy counterparts, these events are exclusive in that they’re ticketed or available to members of the Wine & Whiskey club.
An upcoming Wine & Whiskey event in partnership with Edible Manhattan is taking place on August 10 with Maria Carlin at the helm. Carlin, a bartender with Mother’s Ruin and newly opened Loverboy, will be designing a five-course cocktail menu influenced by our favorite culinary flavors. We expect her to bring an innovative menu that we’re accustomed to seeing in Mother’s Ruin tongue-and-cheek cocktail and boozy slushie programs. She and a team of bartenders will be preparing her menu, cutting the typical wait time for a drink, and pairing it with small plates curated by Edible Manhattan.
For event attendees, the cocktail experience does not stop there. When you register for Culinary Cocktails: Edible Manhattan and W&W, use the code “EDIBLE” to receive 50 percent off a one-year W&W membership and two event tickets, to be used at any W&W, event including the Edible event (a $300 value for $150). Additional perks include their “cocktail on us” program in partnership with Hooch, which gives members free rounds of cocktails at different bars in the city for three months; and access to branded events as well as discounts like the Indie Spirits Expo, Whiskey Week and more. Additionally, members receive 25 percent off all reservations to Liquor Laboratory (opening in October on Broadway in the heart of SoHo). The forthcoming lab creates an interactive experience where you’ll not only create and drink specialty cocktails but learn the tricks to their preparation and answer boozy trivia questions for prizes.
Just like Liquor Lab, our Culinary Cocktails event is an opportunity to learn and mingle with 150 cocktail lovers and novices alike over a buffet of small bites. Current W&W members register here for a cocktail experience hosted at the Red Room at the DL on the Lower East Side. The ticket price is $60 for current W&W members, as well as their guests.
