Place your orders! Vermont Sail Freight Project is En Route to NYC.

Over the past few months, we’ve followed the Vermont Sail Freight Project through conversations with project director Erik Andrus and first mate Jordan Finkelstein. With the help of the Willowell Foundation and local volunteers, the duo has hand constructed a sail-powered vessel to demonstrate that food transportation can and should be done without the use of any gasoline.

Throughout October, the crew is sailing their boat, Ceres, along the historic Champlain-Hudson waterway delivering sustainably farmed products to families and retailers. They will stop at 16 ports throughout New York, culminating with two final stops at Brooklyn Navy Yard on Oct 25 and 26 and the New Amsterdam Market at South Street Seaport on Oct 27.

Products from the Vermont Sail Freight Project can be pre-ordered on Good Eggs, a site devoted to delivering food to NYC from the best local farmers & foodmakers. Some of the items available for purchase include Vermont maple syrup, heirloom beans, and wild harvested Maine seaweed.

We love everything the Vermont Sail Freight Project and Good Eggs are doing to support sustainable food systems. If you’re interested in pre-ordering items, click here.
