Tune in this Saturday, March 1, for TEDx Manhattan’s conference, Changing the Way We Eat. We’ll be attending local viewing parties with like-minded viewers to watch a free livestreamed broadcast of the event. Speakers from New York and beyond will present their ideas about how we — as New Yorkers and as human beings — can change the way we think about eating and food.
Topics of discussion will be wide-ranging; we’ll be talking about everything from what Myra Goodman, the co-founder of Earthbound Farm, thinks large-scale organic operations are doing right; to changing the ways we think about food-based philanthropy in a talk by Virginia Clarke, the executive director of Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems Funders. We’ll even discuss why crickets might be our next big source of protein with Bitty Foods’ founder Megan Miller.
Other speakers include Bill Yosses, the executive pastry chef at the White House; David McInerney, the founder of FreshDirect; and Mitchell Davis, the executive vice president of the James Beard Foundation. Our own Brian Halweil will also be there to open the first of the event’s three sessions, “Expand” (followed by “Collaborate” and “Grow”).
Registration is required for many viewing parties, and spots are limited, so make sure you RSVP for a seat. In the meantime, check out TEDx Manhattan’s “Change the Way You Eat” manifesto, with tips as to how to eat more sustainably and a list of resources recommended by TEDx Manhattan’s speakers and sponsors.
