We just got word from our friends at Brooklyn Kitchen in Williamsburg — one of the best kitchenwares stores and cooking schools in the city featuring one of the best butcher shops in the world — that at last the food will rock as much as the music at this year’s Sunday shows at East River State Park. (What, you’ve never been!?! It’s on the fine, fine waterfront in north Brooklyn.)
The Kitchen tells us that starting June 20 (that’s in two weeks!) The Meat Hook will be cooking their you-must-eat-these-before-you-die sausages from a new “Pig Cooker Trailer Grill” procured in Virginia, as well as pulled pork or Sloppy Joes, plus sweet tea.
They also tell us Roberta’s is hard at work building a pizza oven trailer (we hope it has a rooftop garden too!) and that El Diablo, the truck in the backyard of Union Pool on Union Avenue, is also going to represent with tacos, grilled corn and hopefully horchata. That’s pretty much all the food groups covered right there.
These fine purveyors will be there every Sunday there’s a show at the Williamsburg Waterfront, for both the seven freebies hosted by JellyNYC and affectionately known as the Pool Parties (they start July 11, and the line-up is yet to be announced) and the long list of benefit concerts for the park by the Open Space Alliance and OSA Presents the Wiliamsburg Waterfront. Those include shows (get a complete lineup here) by Grizzly Bear on June 20, plus Weezer, Spoon, Pavement and yes, Faith No More. We are so there.
