The Space Between Tables: Third Culture Cooking and Belonging

What does it mean to cook between cultures? For many writers, chefs, and home cooks, the kitchen is where inherited traditions meet new identities, creating food that reflects migration, memory, adaptation, and belonging. Hosted by Bettina Makalintal, a senior editor at Eater, Eric Kim, Zaynab Issa, Hawa Hassan, and Stacey Mei Yan Fong will discuss how growing up between cultures has shaped their cooking and the stories they tell through food. Non-alcoholic beverages generously provided by Sober in Central Park. This event is part of a speaker series curated by Kitchen Arts & Letters, an Upper East Side cookbook store hosting their first ever downtown pop-up this summer.
