In case you missed the brisket cook-off at Jimmy’s No. 43 this weekend — where more than $2,000 was raised to help support New Amsterdam Market’s 2011 season — there’s another opportunity to eat well while supporting one of the coolest new food markets in town. That’s the Oyster Saloon and Night Market on April 9, where the organization is on a quest to source some of the east coast’s best and serve them out on the streets, ye olde publick market style. Special guest vendors include April Bloomfield of The John Dory Oyster Bar and Patrick Connolly of bobo Restaurant, plus there’ll be grilled cheese from Saxelby Cheesemongers and the Cellars at Jasper Hill, pickles from Rick’s Picks, brown bread from Sullivan Street Bakery and cask beers by Beer Table.
Better still, we have a handful of tickets to giveaway. We are still looking for suggestions for our list of spring ingredients to spotlight for Eat Drink Local Week. Just leave your suggestions in the comments field of this post, and a few lucky posters who comment today will score seats at April’s oyster heaven (it might be wise to nominate oysters). And if you don’t win, word on the street is New Amsterdam still needs volunteer shuckers, too, so if you’d like to pitch in, drop a line to volunteer@newamsterdammarket.com.
