On Wednesday night The Lower East Side was once again Manhattan’s biggest melting pot, at our first-ever travel-themed tasting at the Angel Orensanz Center on Norfolk Street–right in the heart of the neighborhood. As they made their way around the oldest synagogue in the city (in addition to hosting events, the Center still offers High Holy Day services by the Shul of New York, a Reform Jewish congregation), guests made their way around the world, tasting everything from locally made wines to kati rolls from India.
Also on hand Wednesday night will be Monika Caha of Monika Caha Selections– she’s a Viennese expert on Austrian wine. Her portfolio comprises more than 70 wines from 10 boutique producers. With her help we want one of you to take home a little taste of Austria, meaning mixed case of Austrian wines. Winners will be chosen at random from our ticket holders, so don’t miss out on your chance to win (and eat and drink)–get your Edible Escape tickets right here.
On Wednesday night at our Edible Escape at the Angel Orensanz Center there will be wine, spirits, cheeses and veggies from across the state. ILOVENY will be bringing some swanky farmers market totes and t-shirts to give away. And, to sweeten the pot, we will be giving away prizes to attendees. We’ve already told you about the mixed case of New York State wines, and some other lucky ticket holder will get two gallons of Organic Valley New York Fresh milk. In other words, something for the evening and something for the morning.
As a teaser for all you ticket holders to Edible Escape–our mouth-watering, border-crossing food and drink party next Wednesday, we’ve been leaking selected menu items over the past weeks. But now we’d like to tell you about some giveaways that a few lucky attendees will receive. (Yes, tickets are still available here. Our first prize is a mixed case of wines and the Cape Wine Braai Masters recipe book, courtesy of our friends at Wines of South Africa. We have two of these to give away, and we’ll be choosing winners at random from our ticket holders.
Edible Escape, our travel-themed tasting event in celebration of our inaugural travel issue, is fast approaching like a high speed Euro-train. It takes place October 19th at the stunning Angel Orensanz Center, which itself is like an escape to another time and place. At $40, tickets are a lot cheaper than a flight around the world, and we can guarantee the food will be better, plus we’re giving away Bodum coffee presses and Bodum ceramic knives.
We’re especially excited about Edible Escape on October 19, our first travel-themed tasting.
